Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies

In chapter 11, there are both audio and visual technologies. A form of a traditional audio technology is the  talking book. The talking book can be used in classrooms for all ages. If I were to use the talking book in the classroom  I would use it when my students were reading a play or a dramatic short story. I remember when I was in high school we read Romeo and Juliet, while reading, everyone in the class took turns reading roles through the play. I think having the talking book during this assignment would have made this assignment a lot more enjoyable and intriguing. An emerging form of audio technology that could be used in the classroom is IPods. Ipods can be useful in a classroom. When I become a Spanish teacher, I think it would be very useful to have students use Ipods to listen to native Spanish speakers speak. It would be very useful in improving the students Spanish skills.

Along with audio technologies, there are visual technologies as well. A form of  a traditional form of a visual technology would be a bulletin board. Bulletin boards are very helpful for visual learners. As a teacher, it would be fairly easy to change the bulletin boards and make them colorful and organized for the topic in which you're trying to teach. As a teacher, I would use bulletin boards in that way. A more emerging visual technology in the classroom would be the digital projector. A digital projector is very important in todays classrooms. As a teacher, I would use the video projector to present Powerpoints I created for class and also to access online websites. Digital projectors would also become very useful when doing group presentations.

Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom

Based on the information provided in chapter 6,  I think that I would much rather prefer teaching in a classroom that had more technologies. I think that having more technology in the classroom is a very good thing because it makes learning fun, and also gets students excited to learn. Not only does it benefit the students, it also benefits the teacher as well. It makes teaching much easier and enjoyable for a teacher when the students are having fun learning and understanding the material being taught.  In chapter 6, electronic white boards were presented as a form of technology that can be used in the classroom. In the chapter, It explains the many uses of the white board. One thing I found very interesting and useful about the white board was unlike a chalkboard, you can save and share the information that was just written on the electronic whiteboard. Also in the chapter it stated electronic white boards can be used to access the internet which is very useful as well in the classroom. When I become a teacher, I will be sure to incorporate many forms of technology into my classroom including the electronic white board.
